"Sa Muling Paglaya"
(Taghoy ng Ibong Wala ng Pugad"

literally means to be free (again), lament of a bird without a nest....

this is an old poem i have written in college. i didn't really have time to translate it sorry for that! The language is "tagalog" (also: Filipino)

Script: is an old system of writing in the Philippines which is eventually getting obsolete (endangered) since only some old folks of some indigenous communities can still read and write it.

i owe this wonderful site for the wonderful electronic translation into this script....

You wrote -- "...only some old folks of some indigenous communities can still read and write it."

Not true anymore; many young artists, tattoo pros, and a new generation of Baybayin/Alibata enthusiasts (especially among Filipino expats in Canada, US, UK, etc.) all over the world (thanks to the internet) are rediscovering the script.

I've learned to read and write in Baybayin from my father. An extremely helpful site for everyone else is Paul Morrow's Sari-Sari etc. website -->> [link]

I also have a couple of new fonts that I will make available for everyone soon.

i've read Mr Morrow's site long time ago, and you would agree that he did and does a fantastic job.

rediscovering.... and surely thanx to the internet and the people who are concerned with our culture! (but sad to say, many ex-pats (only, if i may say) has access to modern technology. but what was done on the local level... we need people like you to re-introduce it to our locals.. to go back to our roots.

i may not an administrator of the DA group, but may me invite you to join. We are expecting you! :handshake:
